You’ll visit some of the most iconic filming locations seen in the films and explore the heart of New Zealand’s film industry in Miramar. There, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how the magic was made with a visit to the world-famous Wētā Workshop.

Enjoy spectacular, panoramic views over the Wellington region for some unforgettable photos. Then, we’ll head into the Mt. Victoria forest to stand exactly where The Lord of the Rings production first began, including the iconic spot where the Hobbits hid from the Black Rider.

Where Movie Magic Comes to Life

Unleash your inner creativity at the world-famous Weta Workshop! Discover the artistry behind the films, get up close with incredible props, and grab a souvenir or two to remember your journey.

Learn filmmaking techniques​

Our first stop on the full-day journey is the River Anduin. Learn how the filmmakers used clever camera techniques and perspective to make the cast appear at different heights and bring the Fellowship's journey to life.

A Hobbit Feast!

Refuel and relax with a delicious lunch, complete with fresh coffee and tea. It’s the perfect opportunity to chat with your guide and fellow travelers about the morning's adventures.

Rivendell at Kaitoke Regional Park

The Magical Elven Realm

Step into the magical, elven realm of Rivendell, nestled within the beautiful temperate rainforest of Kaitoke Regional Park. After exploring this enchanting location, we will jump back on board for a relaxing drive back to the city to complete our journey.
